Once in a while you'll find a true musical gem. The one that makes you feel alive, makes the hair on your arms stand up and that wants you to keep on listening and listening. One of those gems came to my attention and I just have to share it with you all.
A mix of Country, Americana and roots with a firm base in Bluegrass. That's how you could describe Carrie Hassler & Hard Rain. All though this doesn't do the band justice, for they are much more than that.
Listening to a song like Least That I Can Do you'll hear the amazing harmony in the voices of the band members. It reminds me a little bit of Venice. A song like Going On The Next Train is driving along like a train on it's top speed, with lightening fast instrumentation to which you just can not sit still.
Carrie Hassler & Hard Rain consists of Carrie Hassler, Keith McKinnon, Kevin McKinnon, Travis Anderson, Josh Miller and Jamie Harper. Incredible voices and incredible skilled musicians. With their debut album released in late 2006, they were described by Bluegrass Now Magazine as "a phenomenal hard driving project and one of the strongest debut releases ever heard". The album debuted at 11 on Billboard Top 50 Bluegrass Chart and included two chart singles, Seven Miles From Wichita and Going on the Next Train.
The second album will be released July 2008. Carrie Hassler & Hard Rain will kick off their first European tour on Sunday, April 27 in Suffolk followed by numerous performances in London, Kent, Essex and Swindon.
They will be performing in Voorthuizen, The Netherlands on Friday, May 2nd where they have been chosen to perform at the prestigious European World of Bluegrass Festival.
Their high energy performances with breathtaking lead vocals by Hassler, combined with lightening fast instrumentation by Hard Rain, have made the group one of the most sought after acoustic bands in the U.S.
